Spring is a truly magical time of the year. The snow has melted, the sun is out, and everything is coming back to life. This is also the time of year that people start looking for Cherry Blossoms in Ontario to get the perfect spring photos. You’ll find that most cherry blossoms in Ontario bloom any where from mid-late April to early May.

It can sometimes be hard to find cherry blossoms in Ontario because they’re not exactly native to Canada. We are not as luck as places like Japan who have beautiful cherry blossoms, or sakura, all across the country. Luckily for you, we have found the best places to see cherry blossoms in Ontario to help you get into the springtime spirit!

High Park - Toronto

One of the best spots to see cherry blossoms in Toronto is High Park. You can meander through the park taking in their beauty on a warm spring day. The High Park cherry blossoms are pretty spread out so you have a good chance of getting a photo alone. Try to avoid weekends though because that’s when the most people tend to visit.

Kariya Park - Mississauga

If you don’t want to head all the way in to the city you can look for cherry blossoms in Mississauga instead. Kariya Park in Mississauga is actually one of our favourite places to see cherry blossoms in Ontario because the park itself is so beautiful as well! The park is named after Mississauga’s sister city – Kariya, Japan. You can find the park near Square One with lots of parking nearby.

Spencer Smith Park - Burlington

If your hunt for cherry blossoms in Ontario takes you further West of the GTA then make sure you stop at Spencer Smith Park. This picturesque waterfront trail is the only place to see cherry blossoms in Burlington and it is so worth the trip! These trees were actually donated from Burlington’s Japanese sister city, Itabashi.

Gage Park - Hamilton

You can find the delicate Kanzan flowering cherry blossoms in Hamilton just North of the City Greenhouses in Gage Park. This park is a slice of natural heaven amongst the city and a good spot to find cherry blossoms in Ontario. Hamilton is a great spot to go cherry blossom hunting so it’s worth the drive if you don’t live in the city!

Like we mentioned, there is more than one place to find Ontario cherry blossoms in Hamilton. Head down to the water and find these gorgeous cherry blossoms in Bayfront Park. These cherry trees were also donated by Japan so us Canadians can marvel at the blossoms every spring.

Head south from Hamilton while searching for cherry blossoms in Ontario until you reach Niagara-on-the-Lake. The whole region is full of insta-worthy sights but our favourite has to be the cherry blossoms in Queenston Heights in NOTL. You will end up spending the whole day wandering through the park while admiring the lush blossoms.

Most Ontario locals avoid the busy areas of Niagara Falls like Clifton Hill because it’s a tourist trap. However, the city of Niagara Falls has so much more to offer! Make your way over to the Niagara Botanical Gardens and take some time to enjoy the cherry blossoms in spring. Head to the cherry blossoms first so you’ll have time to explore the rest of the park’s 99 acres. 

Central Experimental Farm - Ottawa

If you find yourself near Canada’s Capital City then you are near some of the best cherry blossoms in Ontario. Get away from the Parliament Buildings and go to the Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa. Not only is this working farm a great family day activity, it also houses the Dominion Arboretum with a number of cherry trees blooming in spring. This is one of our favourite sights in Ottawa!
